15 Mar This season’s hottest bags
Dolce & Gabbana’s world has always been adorned with the stuff of fashion fantasy.
The fairy tale continues this season, with over-the-top embellishments, a plethora of tiaras and cheeky frocks covered in irresistible foodie prints (who can deny the pure delight of a dress decorated with ice-cream cones?).
In the accessories realm, lunch-box-shaped handbags trimmed with rainbow-colored raffia have emerged as top treats for spring: Their slogans beckon the jet set to slip away, sip a cocktail, steal a nibble and stay awhile.
In short, the Dolce life is lit.
Kris Jenner’s must-have bag this season
The other hottest bags for spring?
They’re from Metalskin, a whispered-about, in-the-know brand gobbled up by fashion gurus Stylists to a T and celebs like Kris Jenner.
Made in New York, the all-skin bags come in python, water snake, lizard and crocodile and start at a cool $1,695.
It’s a hefty price, but they’re completely customizable — which is more than you can say about your cherished Chanel.
“It’s disheartening when you spend a few thousand dollars to buy that coveted Chanel bag and walk into a dinner with your girlfriend and everyone owns it,” says Samantha Schneider, who works at Metalskin alongside sisters Jennifer and Alicia Halegua (all are under 35).
Alicia launched Metalskin bags three years ago and the brand has been a hit ever since.
Their purses are ladylike with a twist (think fuchsia-dyed snake) and are on offer at chichi boutiques in Aspen, Colo., and St. Barths.
“They’re a find,” says Schneider. “They’re not just something you purchase.”
